Julie Booth, CFE – Chief Financial Educator

Julie Booth has spent a lifetime learning how to love her money. After 4 years in college, she was drowning in debt with no hope for recovery! A Bachelors in Psychology and a California Teaching Credential weren’t getting her anywhere, financially. So, she picked up a few books, cut up a few credit cards, learned the ins and outs of the financial world, and today is completely debt-free.
When she left for college in 1995, she was totally unprepared for all of the financial responsibilities that lay ahead. Her first checking account, her first savings account, student loans, rent, credit cards, and no parental supervision! This was a recipe for disaster since she wasn’t armed with the knowledge that she needed. Her parents tried to teach her, but what 18 year old listens to their parents about these things? Almost 15 years later, she has a healthy relationship with her money, no credit card debt, and a lot of knowledge to share with teenagers! As an educator, she realizes something is missing from the fundamental education kids receive in a traditional classroom setting – the realities of their financial health in the real world.
